Undistinguished

A pale version of essential Assam. It lacks the robust maltiness that defines an Assam. There is no signature here, no component flavor elements, no complexity. This tea is quite light and may be more suitable as afternoon fare than the characteristic rich breakfast brew. Even after using one hefty teaspoon per 8-ounce cup and steeping for 5 minutes, it remained nondescript. Perhaps adding cream and/or sweetening would enhance the taste for some. I tried a touch of sugar even though my general preference is for a no-frills beverage. Nevertheless, the tea remained flat.
